The beginning of October marks the release of USDA commodity support payments for the 2016-2017 crop year and the release of county-level Agriculture Risk Coverage-County Option (ARC-CO) program payment data for major field crops.
Ninety-eight percent of Indiana’s corn and soybean base acres and 92 percent of Indiana wheat base acres are enrolled in the ARC-CO program.
The maps shown here outline the 2016 ARC-CO payment rate for each of the three crops in all 92 counties. ARC-CO is designed to protect against marginal revenue declines due to weakening crop prices or negative yield shocks.
Indiana Farm Bureau supports the continuation of revenue-based safety net programs in the next farm bill and will work with American Farm Bureau Federation to make ARC-CO even more effective at helping growers manage revenue volatility.
