Throughout 2019, The Hoosier Farmer is observing Indiana Farm Bureau’s 100^th anniversary in a number of ways. One of the ways is reproducing historic photos and news clippings. This particular photo of an unidentified farmer ran on the cover of the June 1941 issue of The Hoosier Farmer with the headline “…the Sinew of Democracy.” In that same issue was an ad that included this wartime promise from America’s farmers: “I pledge to do everything in my power to ensure the fulfillment of our Secretary of Agriculture’s prediction that ‘Food Will Win The War.’”
