Bringing grassroots members to Capitol Hill to lobby on Farm Bureau’s key issues has always been one of Farm Bureau’s most potent weapons, and Indiana Farm Bureau is working to see that it remains effective even in the age of COVID.
The plan for 2021 hasn’t been finalized yet, but it will involve virtual Zoom meetings organized by congressional district, said Bob White, INFB national government relations director.
“COVID restrictions plus extra security on Capitol Hill make it difficult, if not impossible, to do anything in person,” White said. “But we are going to have virtual visits, and we plan to get those scheduled in the near future.”
INFB members have traditionally made their in-person Hill visits in March, and the virtual visits will probably be in March, too, White said.
Members interested in participating should keep an eye on INFB’s social media channels and the Dispatch, which is where the virtual visitation schedule will be announced. Those with questions should write to White (bwhite@infb.org) or communicate with their regional manager.
