Tuesday, March 1, is the application deadline for many of Indiana Farm Bureau’s scholarships and grants, and interested members are encouraged to check INFB’s website for more details.
INFB sponsors or co-sponsors scholarships for college-bound youth, current college students and individuals seeking to enhance their careers in agriculture. In addition, grants are available to members and county Farm Bureaus seeking to extend their education outreach in their communities.
Applications are now available through the updated “Ag Scholarships & Grants” section of Indiana Farm Bureau’s website.
District scholarship applications also are available through the site, as are applications for counties that opted to use INFB's electronic platform.
A summary of the available scholarships and grants follows.
INFB scholarship program
Application deadline March 1
Each year, INFB and the Farm Bureau Foundation award 13 district and state college scholarships to high school seniors and college students: the Marion Stackhouse Scholarship; two Collegiate Farm Bureau scholarships available to members of the Collegiate Farm Bureaus at Ancilla College and Huntington, Purdue and Vincennes universities; and 10 Carolyn Hegel Memorial Scholarships (one per Farm Bureau district).
INFB Career Enrichment Scholarship
Application deadline March 1
This scholarship is awarded to a member age 21 years or older who hopes to enrich his or her career through a workshop, seminar, credit or non-credit class, or degree program.
County and district scholarships
Many county and district scholarship applications are included in INFB’s online process. Some counties have not yet opted into the online option, but links to those applications are still available on the scholarship/grant section of the website. The application deadline is generally March 1, but there are exceptions.
INFB Community Grant
This grant program is designed to help county Farm Bureaus who plan to host events that will help further education and networking within diverse segments of agriculture. Grant applications will be judged quarterly. Deadlines are Thursday, March 31; Thursday, June 30; Friday, Sept. 30; and Friday, Dec. 30.
Ag Education and Promotion Development Grant
The grants provide assistance to county Farm Bureaus or Farm Bureau members and educators who do not have adequate funds for a new program, activity, or to attend an event that enhances the promotion of agriculture and education. Applications are judged twice per year. Cycle one grant applications are due Friday, April 15, and cycle two grant applications are due Saturday, Oct. 15.
