The Indiana General Assembly’s 2022 legislative session is currently underway. This year was supposed to be a short session, and it’s looking like it will wrap up quicker than a normal short session due to the pandemic.
INFB member engagement in the legislative process is always key to a successful session. Weekly updates are available through the end of the legislative session from Indiana Farm Bureau’s public policy team.
Members can listen to the updates live by joining the call via Zoom, or they can listen to recorded updates.
The updates are provided every Friday starting at noon ET. Anyone who would like to join those calls should email ppt@infb.org to register for the Zoom information.
A recording and description of the legislative calls will be posted on www.infb.org/resources/volunteers/volunteer-center/statehouse-updates. You'll need to log in to your INFB account before accessing the audio.
You also can access session or committee hearings by visiting the Indiana General Assembly’s website ( iga.in.gov) and clicking on the links for “Watch Live” and “Video Archive.”
February 1 is the deadline for all bills to have passed their house of origin, so as members receive this issue of The Hoosier Farmer, the session will have passed its halfway point. Among the issues that INFB is monitoring are the business personal property tax as well as bills that affect property rights, annexation and zoning, home-based vendors and carbon sequestration.
