Indiana Farm Bureau’s activities during the 2024 Indiana State Fair, which ran Aug. 2-18, focused on reaching consumers and connecting with young people.
INFB’s biggest consumer event, Taste From Indiana Farms, was held at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion. A total of 9,795 fairgoers visited the event, which was held Aug. 8-11. In 2023, attendance totaled approximately 8,600.
More than 160 volunteers consisting of both associate and voting members helped at the event, handing out samples of foods produced in Indiana, including white corn chips, salsa, maple syrup sticks, cheese (donated by Fair Oaks Farms and Foremost Farms), egg wraps (donated by Egglife), popcorn (donated by Weaver Popcorn), lamb summer sausage (donated by the Indiana Sheep Association) and mint lemonade.
INFB continued its sponsorship of the Exhibitor Experience as well as the Supreme Drive and showmanship contests, awarding a variety of prizes. Prizes included large coolers for supreme champion species winners; director chairs for supreme showmanship winners; luggage bags for champion showmanship division winners of all species; and speakers for reserve champion showmanship division winners of all species.
Vinyl banners were also awarded to showmanship breed and division grand and reserve grand champions of all species; chamois were awarded to grand and reserve showmanship winners; and approximately 3,200 INFB water bottles with livestock sticker sheets were distributed to all livestock exhibitors.
New this year was an additional Exhibitor Experience during which livestock exhibitors were invited on opening day to make friendship bracelets and take photos in INFB’s “Portrait of a Showman” photo booth.
