(Indianapolis) – Feb. 13, 2025 – Registration is now open for the Indiana Ag Threats & Security Summit – a new program that addresses threats and security issues related to agriculture – presented by Indiana Farm Bureau in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Indianapolis, Beck’s and Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance. The workshop will take place on Tuesday, March 25 at the Tallison Hotel in Carmel, Indiana, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time.  

Attendees can expect an engaging day with local experts in the biosecurity and data industries to explore how the agriculture sector prepares against biological, physical and cyber threats.

“The current technology landscape is constantly evolving,” said Randy Kron, INFB president. “This impacts how those of us in the ag industry work, live and learn. Agriculture contributes an estimated $35.1 billion to Indiana’s economy, so it’s critical that Hoosier farmers are informed about these threats and learn how we can keep our farms secure because agricultural security is national security.”

Program topics include industry perspectives on biosecurity threats and how agencies work together, easy-to-follow best practices to keep the farm secure, insights on the current threat landscape, and how to utilize drone technology safely and effectively. A variety of speakers and experts will be featured, including presenters from FBI Indianapolis, Beck’s, Pierce Aerospace and Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance.

“There is no question that the rise in technology and innovations have made farms and the agriculture industry as a whole more productive and efficient,” said Megan Ritter, INFB senior executive director of administration. “However, with these improvements come increased responsibility to protect critical infrastructure and the food system. INFB recognized that and saw a real need for our farmers and law enforcement officials to share information on the latest issues, whether that’s biosecurity and physical security, data breaches or cybersecurity.”

The program is free to INFB members and law enforcement attendees, and $50 for nonmembers. Registration for the event is required. Attendees may register at www.infb.org/events. Space is limited, and registration closes Tuesday, March 11.
