(Indianapolis) – Aug. 1, 2024 – Indiana Farm Bureau’s ELECT and AgELECT – the organization’s federal and state-level, nonpartisan political action committees (PAC) – have endorsed 55 candidates for the 2024 general election.
“This election is going to be extremely important for agriculture. Indiana Farm Bureau endorsements are taken very seriously as a part of the organization’s grassroots advocacy effort,” said INFB President Randy Kron. “The goal of our PACs is to back candidates who are willing to listen and engage in issues impacting agriculture. We rely on public officials who will advocate on behalf of Hoosier agriculture and serve as our voice at the Statehouse and in Washington, D.C.”
Federal and state engagement will be critical this next year for many agricultural issues including water, taxes and labor. INFB has been in constant communication with Indiana lawmakers and the state’s congressional delegation about these topics throughout the year as legislation is being crafted, but there’s still much to be done.
"I am grateful to have the endorsement of Indiana Farm Bureau,” said Indiana State Sen. Rod Bray. “As the owner and operator of a small family farm, and the representative of a largely rural district, I know how essential farmers are to Indiana's economy. Agriculture is a large part of who we all are as Hoosiers, and I look forward to the opportunity to work with Indiana Farm Bureau in my next term should I be elected."
INFB ELECT and AgELECT endorsements are determined through a robust grassroots process led by county leaders from across Indiana, who conduct candidate interviews and present recommendations to the oversight committee and the INFB board of directors.
An endorsement from INFB is recognition of a candidate’s support of policies that will foster a positive environment for agriculture and rural communities.
