Countdown to delegate session has begun
It is policy development season, and Indiana Farm Bureau and the county Farm Bureaus have been hard at work on this important grassroots process.
The deadline for counties to submit policy to INFB is May 1. County Farm Bureaus can submit up to three priority policies, propose new policy positions or propose deleting or amending current policy positions.
INFB’s nine policy advisory groups also have been holding policy meetings this winter. The PAGs are made up of members with particular expertise in areas such as diversified agriculture, environment and natural resources, land use and taxes.
Additional PAG meetings will be held this spring, if needed, said Jesse Cordray, INFB public policy project manager.
The next step will be for INFB staff to collect all the recommendations and organize them in preparation for the resolutions committee, which will meet at INFB headquarters July 15-16.
The recommendations that receive approval from the resolutions committee will then be heard by the full delegate body. Delegate session will be Aug. 16 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton – Noblesville Indianapolis Conference Center.
